ABOUT

UNISEX OUTERWEAR.

NATURALLY DYED.

EVERY PIECE IS UNIQUE, LIVE IT UNIQUELY YOURS.

Artful Scout garments are naturally dyed. We partner with Rachit, a brilliant third generation natural dyer in Uttar Pradesh, India, who shares our dedication to quality and innovation. We use marigold, true indigo, Indian madder, turmeric, and pomegranate. Plant dyes can cause slight variance between the pieces as the coloring is not uniform, creating unique, one of a kind textiles.

GARMENT CARE

Color rubbing may occur. Be mindful as you wear-in your garment.

Wash your piece in warm water with mild soap. Lay flat to dry in the shade. For more details please read our Guide to Naturally Dyed Garment Care.

WHY NATURAL DYES

We choose natural dyes because we care about our impact on the environment and the creatures who inhabit it. Our fabric production and dyeing process use significantly less water than conventional processes. For example, an average pair of jeans uses 1500 L of fresh water compared to one Artful Scout jacket which uses only 48 L.

Our master dyer Mahesh running the artful natural dyeing process.

By opting to purchase an Artful Scout jacket over a conventionally dyed jacket you can save enough fresh water for one adult person to drink in two years. One vest saves enough water for one year.

ARTFUL TAILORS

We believe in honest and fair work. All garments are produced in collaboration with a women's cooperative in Varanasi, India. In addition to fair wages and a safe, healthy, dignified working environment, Artful Scout also partners with the Ganga Learning Center to ensure educational access for the families we work with.
